PRAISE: The Power of Pushing Up Others

Praise is defined as expressing favorable judgment, warm approval, and admiration. This is the one leadership quality you should give to others in addition to yourself. In Network Marketing, this is very important because praising your teammates causes them to produce more thus increasing your personal income. Everyone wants to feel special in some way or another, and praising people is way to show them that they are special. In Direct Sales and Network Marketing, in companies such as the one I work in; you as the sponsor have a financial interest in your Downline teammate’s success. In other words, if they don’t make a lot of money you won’t be paid a lot of money. So, helping them in every way to achieve success is in your best interest and theirs.

Here is another reason why praising your teammates is very important. At a job, most supervisors and managers judge people looking at them from their outside qualities instead of their inside qualities. However, as a leader, we must recognize our teammates inside qualities such as their attitude, desire, and determination toward getting the job done and achieving success. Once you truly see these qualities in your teammates; you will begin to see them as more then they appear to be. I have always said that everyone walks around with an invisible shirt on with bold letters written on it stating, “MAKE ME FEEL SPECIAL!” and this is what you must do.

Here are some ways to praise your team:

·         Always place the spotlight on your teammates, because without them you can’t achieve success.
·         Feed people what they want to hear knowing that’s what they need to hear.
·         Look for the strengths in your teammates and never focus on their weakness.
·         Be more encouraging to your teammates especially when they make mistakes.
·         Look to build better relationship with your teammates. People will quit on a job, but not a friend.
·         Make them feel equal. Just because you are their upline does not make you better than them.
·         Work with them using high integrity. You want them to ALWAYS trust you.
·         Live with your team during the good times and bad times.
·         Be very slow to criticize and very quick to congratulate.
·         Put your team’s goals above yours. Why!? Because when they achieve their goals you will achieve yours.
·         When you start a conversation with them; start it off by speaking of the “good” and not the “bad.”

Here’s an experiment that you can try for the next seven days. For the next seven days, express praise to someone using any method for example an email to them, or even a telephone call. Tell them something that they did or are doing very well. However, instead of praising just one person, praise seven different people; one for each of the seven days. This experiment will help you to develop your knowledge of understanding the power of praise. For more information on praising your teammates watch some of my YouTube videos.
