What is one of the worst things that any company should never
do? It’s cutting corners in order to help increase production and revenue. In
the beginning, cutting corners may appear to cause these increases to happen,
but as with all things it will never last. WHY!? Because, eventually the truth
will reveal itself either in the form of corruption or in the form of failing
products and/or services; the truth always catches up with us.
What do I mean by saying this? I remember watching an
interview on GM workers at the time some car-makers were asking the government
for bail out money so their company won’t shut down. One of the workers who had
worked for them for years stated how in the past workers would cut corners when
building the cars on the assembly line. To the interviewer’s and my amazement,
we both could not believe what he was saying. He further stated that this is
why in the past GM cars suffered in sales because of the cars performing badly
due to shabby work. Just like I said it’s bad to cut corners because the truth
will eventually catch up with you.
So what does this have to do with Network Marketing? Just
about EVERYTHING!! I have watched new Network Marketers get so excited when
they join a company, and follow what their upline or sponsor tells them
regarding recruiting others. Soon to only realize that growth occurs over time,
so they get frustrated and try to find ways to cheat the system by cutting
corners. For example, I knew a representative who worked for a Network
Marketing company that sells mortgages. Her 9-5 job was working for a mortgage
company in which they also sold mortgages. On more than one occasion, she would
steal new clients and try to sell them a mortgage from her Network Marketing Company.
Over time, in her Network Marketing Company, she was doing well.
Her production was high and her income had increased. However, as stated
earlier, the truth always catches up. One of her friends over heard what she
was doing and informed the boss. This caused her immediate removal from the
company and the boss almost filed charges against her for stealing potential
clients. Do you want to what else happened to her? Because, she built her
business by always cutting corners, she never took the time to become creative
in finding new leads. This resulted in a decrease in her income and production
which ultimately caused her to quit.
What lesson can you learn from both examples? Well, here it
is…..NEVER EVER CUT CORNERS BECAUSE THE TRUTH WILL EVENTUALLY CATCH UP TO YOU!!
